Origioke™
In the spirit of sharing and friendly competition, Origioke brings together songwriters and all who love original music. Participants play their creations over Bluetooth speakers and audio systems at venues that may include backyards, bars, restaurants, churches, clubhouses, even classrooms, and enjoy feedback from fellow creatives.

Origioke — It's an Original
-
Eligible songs must be original creations and be playable from a Web-accessible link.
-
Everyone present gives the played songs a score and can offer feedback to songwriters, many of whom are working to advance their careers and aspire to regional and national Origioke showcases.
-
Origioke promotes all types of songs across both human only and human/AI collaboration in producing lyrics and music.
-
Everyone is welcome from beginning to veteran song creators.
-
Together, we celebrate the “human spark” that ignites creative efforts.

Origioke Welcomes You
Origioke champions and applauds all who contribute to the growing body of incredible music that enlivens the world. 🎤 ORIGIOKE™ EVENT RULES
A ritual of original music, shared creativity, and friendly competition.
Origioke™ exists to celebrate original songwriting in all its forms. Whether hosted in a backyard, bar, restaurant, church, clubhouse, or classroom, the goal is simple: share your creations, listen deeply, and uplift one another.
1. Event Leadership
-
A host must be designated, serving as an emcee and event organizer following Origioke rules detailed here.
-
The Origioke Organizer manages the event flow, plays the submitted songs to the Bluetooth device(s), keeps time, and adjudicates and ensures fairness.
-
The Origioke Organizer and/or Emcee MUST read the following statement and have all affirm verbally (not sign/no signature): “By registering my song, I confirm that I am the creator and rights holder of this original work and that I have permission to share it at this event.”
2. Entry Fee
-
Suggested minimum entry fee: $15 per song submitted. Host and Organizer may or may not require a general participant cover charge which should not be charged to those presenting songs.

RESOURCES
✅ SIMPLE EXPLANATION OF ASCAP & BMI FOR PARTICIPANTS
Whether fully human or AI-Human collaborated, a massive song library continues to emerge. There are existing organizations that can assist you in navigating this changing music landscape.
ASCAP & BMI
ASCAP and BMI are Performance Rights Organizations (PROs).
They collect money for songwriters when their music is played in public places like:
-
Bars
-
Restaurants
-
Churches
-
Clubs
-
Concert venues
-
Radio/TV/streaming
Good news for Origioke creators
You can register your song with ASCAP or BMI even if it’s not published or released yet. If you perform your song at an Origioke event held in a PRO‑licensed venue, you may be eligible to earn performance royalties.
Origioke does not take any ownership of your music.
✅ HOST/ORGANIZER GUIDE (PRO‑LICENSED VENUES)
1. What Hosts/Organizers Need to Know
Many venues already pay annual ASCAP/BMI fees.
If they do:
-
Songwriters may earn royalties for performing their original songs.
-
Hosts/Organizers need to check with venues!
2. How to Check
Ask the venue manager: “Do you have ASCAP/BMI performance licenses?” Most commercial venues will say yes.
3. If the Venue Is Licensed
-
Let performers know they can register their songs with ASCAP/BMI. (not required)
-
Encourage them to keep track of their setlist.
4. If the Venue Is Not Licensed
-
The event is still fully allowed.
-
Songwriters simply won’t earn PRO royalties for that performance.
5. What Hosts/Organizers Should NOT Do
-
Don’t collect royalties.
-
Don’t claim Origioke is a PRO‑licensed event.
-
Don’t promise royalties — just explain the possibility.
✅ SIMPLE SUMMARY OF MECHANICAL, MASTER, & VIDEO RIGHTS
As original works, your songs carry specific rights. Participants often hear these terms but don’t know what they mean.
Here’s the clean, Origioke‑friendly version:
🎼 1. MECHANICAL RIGHTS
What they cover: The right to reproduce and distribute a song’s composition (the melody + lyrics).
Who owns them:
The songwriter or their publisher.
Examples:
-
Streaming on Spotify/Apple
-
Selling downloads
-
CDs/vinyl
-
Cover versions
Your original song automatically has mechanical rights the moment you create it. Origioke does not touch or claim these rights.
🎧 2. MASTER RIGHTS
What they cover:
The right to the actual recording of the song — the audio file itself.
Who owns them:
Whoever paid for or created the recording (often the artist, sometimes a label).
Examples:
-
Your MP3/WAV file
-
A studio recording
-
A live recording
-
A remix or alternate version
When you play your song from your phone, you are using your master recording.
Origioke does not claim or license your Master rights.
You keep 100% ownership.
🎥 3. VIDEO (SYNC) RIGHTS
What they cover:
The right to pair your music with video.
Who owns them:
Two parties must approve:
-
The songwriter (composition)
-
The master owner (recording)
Examples:
-
YouTube videos
-
TikTok
-
Films
-
Ads
-
Music videos
If someone wants to film your performance or use your song in a video, they need your permission.
Origioke does not claim or license your Video rights.
